    We are looking for an Application Specialist to join our team at Whitehead Scientific (Cape Town or Gauteng). The Application Specialist will be responsible for providing advanced technical support and aiding sales activities through on-site demonstrations and presentations for our Cell Biology and Core Molecular product range. 

    What you will be doing

    • Undertaking advanced levels of product training within the designated product groups and combining this with self-learning 
    • Support the sales team with pre-sales activities, co-ordinating with clients and internal staff on product choices, demonstrations, evaluations and joint sales visits
    • Work closely with the portfolio team to schedule instrument installations and provide theoretical and hands-on customer training
    • Respond directly to customer troubleshooting requests for designated product groups, in order to help resolve technical issues
    • Work closely with internal staff to respond to customer requests and/or to support queries requiring an advanced level of scientific input
    • Support customers with requests for custom protocol development and implementation
    • Participate in events such as webinars, technical presentations, roadshows, workshops and conferences
    • Provide applications training on instrumentation, software and consumables to internal staff members
    • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers remotely and in the field

    To be successful you will need

    • MSc / PhD Biological/Immunology/Molecular Sciences/Genetics (essential)
    • 3-5 years’ of experience in an applications role within a life sciences company
    • 1-2 years’ experience in the utilization, training and support for high end life science research and/or diagnostic instrumentation
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, thrives developing strong customer facing relationships.
    • Comfortable operating with degrees of complexity and with mid-to-long-term objectives
